Your journey begins as our driver meets you at the Dimapur airport. We’ll drive through the lush green Zubza gorge to reach the Kohima ridge. We’ll handle your permit checks at the border to make it easy for you. After checking into a boutique homestay, take a slow walk through the local bazaar to see the unique Naga produce. The Hornbill Opening: Kisama Heritage Village 1,444m
Today is the big day! We head to Kisama, the central venue for the Hornbill Festival. Attend the grand opening ceremony and witness the powerful ritual chants of all 17 tribes together. Walk through the 'Morungs'—the traditional tribal dormitories—to see the different architectural styles of each tribe. In the evening, watch the Naga Chef competition and try some of the most authentic tribal flavors. Altitude: 1,444m.

Return to Kisama for a day of tribal fun. Watch traditional wrestling, archery, and spear-throwing competitions. We drive north toward the cultural capital of the Ao Naga tribe. The road winds through beautiful tea-covered hills and remote villages. Reach Mokokchung by afternoon and check into your guesthouse. Ao Naga Heritage & Mon Frontier Drive 897m
Spend your morning visiting the village of Ungma, the largest Ao Naga village, to see its ancient log-drums. Later, we begin the long drive toward the district of Mon, the home of the Konyak tribe. The landscape turns wilder as we approach the border regions. Reach Mon by late evening and rest at your homestay. Altitude: 897m.
Longwa: The Village on the Border 2,133m
Today we visit the incredible village of Longwa. The chieftain's (Angh) house is unique because it sits exactly on the border—you can have your kitchen in India and your bedroom in Myanmar! Meet the last of the tattooed headhunters and see their traditional brass crafts and weaving. Watching the sunrise from the Longwa ridge is a humbling experience at the edge of the world. Mon Market & Return to Mokokchung 1,325m
Explore the local Mon market for authentic Konyak jewelry and beadwork. We then begin our return journey back toward Mokokchung. Stop at smaller villages along the way to see the different tribal designs and life. Enjoy a final evening sharing stories with your local Naga hosts. Altitude: 1,325m.
Return to the Plains: Drive to Dimapur 145m
Our final drive takes us back down from the Naga hills to the Brahmaputra plains. We’ll stop at a local tea estate on the border of Assam and Nagaland for a quick walk. Reach Dimapur by evening and enjoy a farewell Naga feast. Altitude: Descent to 145m.
