The office is open 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM but closes for lunch 1:00-2:00 PM. The fee is INR 150 per person for Indian nationals and INR 600 for foreign nationals. The Milam Valley trek route beyond the base camp (to Milam village at 3,300 metres, 5 additional days) requires a separate permit from the Pithoragarh District Magistrate's office. The rhododendron forest on the initial 5-kilometre stretch of the trek is home to 12 species of rhododendron (including the state tree Rhododendron arboreum), which bloom from mid-April to mid-May.

Your adventure starts with a pick-up from the Kathgodam railway station. This is one of the most beautiful long drives in India, taking you through the hills of Almora and Chaukori. On the way, we’ll stop at several viewpoints to see the distant snow peaks. Arrive in the high-altitude town of Munsiyari (2,298m) by late evening. Check into your hotel or boutique homestay and enjoy a warm Kumaoni dinner. Altitude: 2,298m
Khaliya Top: Above the Clouds Trek (6km Trek) 3,500m
After a fresh mountain breakfast, we begin our guided trek to Khaliya Top (3,500m). The trail winds through dense forests of oak and rhododendron. As you reach the meadow at the top, the Panchachuli peaks appear so close you feel you can touch them! Spend your afternoon soaking in the 360-degree views before trekking back down to Munsiyari. Today we explore the local culture. Visit the Tribal Heritage Museum to see rare artifacts and hear stories of the ancient Indo-Tibetan trade routes. Next, we take a short hike to Maheshwari Kund, a beautiful pond with a fascinating local legend. In the afternoon, visit the Nanda Devi temple complex for a peaceful sunset view. Birthi Falls & Chaukori Tea Gardens (100km) 2,010m
We begin our slow descent toward the plains, stopping at the majestic Birthi Falls. Take a short walk to the base of the waterfall to feel the refreshing mountain spray. Continue the drive to the tiny hamlet of Chaukori, famous for its vast green tea gardens and amazing sunrise views over Nanda Devi. Enjoy your last mountain night in a heritage forest bungalow. Chaukori to Kathgodam Departure Varies
Enjoy a final sunrise breakfast overlooking the tea gardens. We begin our return journey toward Kathgodam, passing through the deep pine forests of the Kumaon region. We’ll stop at the local Almora market where you can buy the famous 'Bal Mithai' as a sweet souvenir. Our driver will drop you at the Kathgodam station or airport for your journey home.
