Malabar to Tea Ridge: Bagdogra to Darjeeling (70km) 2,042m
Your mountain trip begins as our driver meets you at the Bagdogra airport or NJP station. We’ll drive 70km through the beautiful Teesta valley, climbing up toward the Darjeeling ridge. Watch the landscape change from tropical forests to lush green tea gardens. Check into a handpicked heritage hotel that captures the old-world charm of the British era. In the evening, take a slow walk through the Chowrasta (The Mall) and enjoy your first mountain dinner. Altitude: 2,042m.
Highland Peaks: Tiger Hill & Toy Train 2,042m
Wake up early at 4:30 AM for a drive to Tiger Hill. Watching the sunrise over the massive Kanchenjunga range is a sight you'll never forget. On the way back, visit the Ghoom Monastery and the famous Batasia Loop, where the toy train makes a spectacular spiral. In the afternoon, explore the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute to see the gear used by the first Everest climbers. Visit the peaceful Tibetan Refugee Center in the evening. Altitude: 2,042m to 2,590m.
Tea Garden Trails: Darjeeling to Gangtok (100km) 1,650m
After breakfast, visit a working tea estate to see how the famous Darjeeling tea is picked and processed. Next, we drive 100km across the Teesta river to reach Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. We’ll handle all your entry permits at the border checkpost. Arrive in Gangtok by late afternoon and enjoy a walk through MG Marg, the city's lively, tobacco-free pedestrian zone. Altitude: 1,650m.
The High Lake: Tsomgo & Silk Route Views 1,650m
Today we head even higher to the sacred Tsomgo Lake at 12,400 ft. This glacial lake is surrounded by rugged snow peaks and is a place of great spiritual importance. We’ll also visit the Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial nearby. If Army permits allow, we can take a local 4x4 to the Indo-China border at Nathu La Pass (Optional). Return to Gangtok in the evening and relax. Altitude: 3,753m.
Spiritual Soul: Rumtek Monastery & Ropeway 1,650m
Spend your day exploring the spiritual side of Sikkim. Visit the massive Rumtek Monastery, the largest in the state and a masterpiece of Buddhist architecture. Explore the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology to see rare ancient manuscripts. We’ll also visit the Do Drul Chorten stupa and take a fun ride on the Gangtok Ropeway for an aerial view of the capital city. Farewell dinner featuring local Sikkimese flavors. Altitude: 1,650m.
River Views & Heading Home Varies
Enjoy a final mountain breakfast before we begin our drive back down to the plains. We’ll follow the Teesta river through the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. Our driver will take you to Bagdogra airport or NJP station for your journey home, leaving you with memories of the tea hills and the high Himalayan peaks. Altitude: Descent to 96m.
